"What Are You Going To Do?"
On Friday, I received a card in the mail from one of the many companies that offer a Medicare Advantage plan.
This card reminded me…AGAIN…by saying "December 7, 2015 is the LAST DAY of the Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period."
It went on to say, "It's time to make your decision." It was yet another reminder that the time limit
on something is running out and I must act upon it…NOW!
Time is running short everywhere I look. It seems that there isn't enough time in the week to get all the
things completed that need to be completed. This is nothing new. Jesus said, "I must work the works of Him that sent
Me, while it is day; for the night is coming when no one can work." (John 9:4) The inference in this declaration is
that there is a finite period of time in which to do the work and when the time runs out…it is too late.
Just as our Lord had "works" to accomplish while He was here, so we do also. I believe James explains our
duty to the Word of God more plainly and succinctly than any of the other writers. He simple said, "…Lay aside all
filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:21, 22) He is simply admonishing us to
get rid of whatever it is that is holding us back and read, hear, listen to God's word; and then do what it says.
This is an inescapable commandment. Everyone must choose the work in which they will be involved and make it their
mission. It is a work that is never finished and a work from which one cannot retire.
Time is getting shorter for all of us…day by day. The right time is now…"it's time to make your decision."
What are you going to do?
