"VBS SONGS"

In case you hadn't noticed, our Vacation Bible School for 2014 starts on Monday morning, June 23 and will continue through Wednesday, June 25. It will begin at 9:00 A. M. and continue until 11:30 A. M. I hope that everyone will make your plans to be involved in this school. There has been a lot of time, work and thought that has gone into VBS, 2014. There will be classes for all ages and even an adult class that will be taught by Norman Slate. I urge you to bring yourself, along with your grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, etc. Let's make this the greatest Bible School ever.

In our Vacation Bible Schools we sings songs that are designed to teach valuable lessons to the children, however, it occurs to me that we all can learn from these songs. We sing a song that says, "Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, be careful little hands what you do, be careful little feet where you go, be careful little mouths what you say." This is some sublime admonition and it goes for those with big feet and big mouths, as well! Why? Because..."There's a Father up above, looking down on you in love, so be careful (how you act)." It's true! God does know each of us and watches each of us. He know everything about us and how we act in our daily walk.

We also sing the song, "This little Christian light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine...all the time." Well...grownups, ARE WE? Do we truly let our light shine for Jesus "all the time" in everything we do. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

In support of all these premises and admonitions there is, perhaps, the greatest song. In its simplicity of words it simply states, "O, the B-I-B-L-E, well that's the book for me, I stand alone on the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E." This song speaks volumes, especially in the statement, "I stand alone on the Word of God." It says that we let God's word guide our lives in everything we do or say. It guides our eyes, ears, hands, feet, and mouths. God's word makes us want to let our light shine for Him and we learn it all from the B-I-B-L-E.
