"Making Plans and Setting Goals"
It has been said that "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Truer words have never been spoken. A hunter would never just go out and raise his gun and fire expecting to bag some game. We can't hit a target that we do not have.
Last Lord's Day morning we set a goal for the Sunday morning worship service of 150 souls. This is not that lofty of a goal, but it will, also, not be the last goal. Let us make 150 our target for which to aim. I mentioned, on last Sunday, that I am quite certain that everyone at Neely's Bend wants the church to grow and be strong for the future. This will not happen by accident…it will only happen on purpose. I want to urge every member of the Neely's Bend Church of Christ to join us in this effort by inviting someone to join us in worship.
The command to "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned", is given to each and every member of the Lord's Church. This can be accomplished in many different ways. One of the easiest ways to do this is simply to bring someone to a place where you know that the gospel is being taught.
We had 136 present for worship two weeks ago and 129 last Sunday. With the individuals who were not present, that normally would have been present, we could, easily, have had in excess of 140 present. The easiest thing we can do is to make every effort to gather with the saints, ourselves, and encourage all of our people to do the same.
Let us say with the psalmist David, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord." Psalms 122:1
