Faith is the most basic element of the Christian religion. Without faith we can go no farther toward a home in heaven. Without faith we have no need of being baptized. Without faith prayer is pointless. All these things are to be done in faith. James writes about prayer in chapter 1, verses 6 and 7 "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord…"

I do not know of any Christian who would not want to increase his or her faith. We have a requirement to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ…" (2 Peter 3:18). The apostle Paul told the Romans in 10:17 that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." In other words…faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ, comes from learning more about them. And that can only be done through study of His Word!

In our Adult Bible Class, which meets at 9:30 A. M. each Sunday morning, Bro. Carl Goad has been involved in a series, for some weeks, in which he asks and answers question that are relevant to our lives and pertinent for our time. He began this series with ten questions of which two are remaining…

"What doth hinder me to be baptized?" - Acts 8:36 "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" - Mark 8:36.

The response to this series has been so positive that he has added three additional questions. They are:

"What shall I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ?" - Matt. 27:22. "What do ye more than others?" - Matt. 5:47. "Lord, is it I?" - Matt. 26:22.

Bro. Carl is an excellent Bible teacher and is always well-prepared in that work. I want to encourage each member at the Neely's Bend Church of Christ to set his or her sights on arising a little earlier on Sunday and attending these classes. Anyone who is truly "seek(ing) first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…" (Matt. 6:33) wants to be where the Bible is being taught.

Let's increase our faith and knowledge of God and His Son, Jesus…come to Sunday School and invite others.
