"Questions You Might
Ask the Elders"

Good communication is a two-way street. We are making every plan to keep the Neely's Bend congregation informed as to what is going on in the work here. We'd like to hear from you as well. Below, are some question that you might not have thought to ask:

Will you meet with me? - The answer is always going to be yes. If you will invest the time, so will we.

Will you listen to me? - Unless it's gossip, absolutely. Come, rejoice with us. - If we share our sorrows, we should share our joys, too - both with our fellow Christians and in thanksgiving to God (Romans 12:15).

Will you pray with me? - Yes. Anytime, anywhere, and for any reason (1 Thess. 5:17). We make house calls, too (James 5:14). I've never known the love of God to be more evident than when we've gathered around a hospital room or sickbed or a distressed brother, together yielding our cares up to our Father.

Will you pray for me? - You better believe it. One of the more humbling aspects of being an elder is how often I don't know what to do - but I know that I should ask God's help every time. The spirit intercedes for us when we don't know what to ask (Romans 8:26).

Do I need your approval for this project? - We need to talk about it. We may know that it's been tried before, or funds may not be available, or that it may interfere with another that was unknown to you . Additionally, we may know just the person to help make your idea a reality. We'll listen, pray and consider what you have to say. We want to encourage involvement from the fellowship.

Do you realize what you are doing? - As your brothers and sisters in Christ we will let you know, in all confidence, if we feel that you are conducting yourself in a way that can cost you dearly in eternity (Matthew 18:15). We ask the same from you. We are very aware of our responsibility to lead by example. Further we are aware of how much is at stake. We are always thankful for your prayers for us, our families and our work. We will do our best to serve with the love, compassion and wisdom shown by our Lord.
